CCSL/CCCM - Scriptores Celtigenae
Overview | Publications | In preparation | Guidelines
Early Irish monastic schools, both at home and on the Continent, were revered as centres of learning. But which of the range of Latin exegetical, homiletic and theological works that survive from those times should be seen as originating in such circles? Many of the candidate texts remain unprinted, and it is clear that only by publishing them can such issues be clarified. As these works constitute primary evidence for the period in Latin theological history about which we know least, the Scriptores Celtigenae series that presents these texts has an intrinsic scholarly value, whatever the outcome.
