Visit to the cradle of Corpus Christianorum

On 2 December 2022 a delegation of the Corpus Christianorum Academic Board and Editorial Staff paid a visit to the historical home of the series, the Benedictine St. Peter’s Abbey of Steenbrugge (Bruges). The delegation was cordially received by the abbey’s Prior, Dom Erik-Godfried Feys, and also met by former colleague Roel Vander Plaetse, who continues to serve as librarian. After visiting the current residence of the remaining monks, we were given a tour of the former abbey buildings, now occupied by the educational services of the diocese of Bruges. In the former refectory we paid homage to the man who inspired and founded the series, Dom Eligius Dekkers (1915-1998).
