On 1 March 2024, Dominique Poirel was appointed correspondent of the French Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres.
Dominique Poirel, research director at the CNRS (IRHT), is a specialist in medieval philosophy, Latin philology of the Middle Ages, codicology, and textual criticism. He is particularly interested in the history and traditions of the Victorine school of the twelfth century, and is director of the Société des Études victorines in Paris.
Dominique is a long-standing member of the Editorial Board of the Continuatio Mediaevalis of the Corpus Christianorum, where he co-directs, with Patrice Sicard, the subseries on Hugh of Saint Victor. He is also co-director of the Brepols series Bibliotheca Victorina, Studia Artistarum, and Sous la Règle de saint Augustin.
In addition to being a scholar, series director and textual-critical editor, Dominique is also the (co-)editor of a number of miscellanies and conference proceedings, and more recently the author of the methodological essay Stemma codicum. La "méthode Froger" d'édition critique.
